People can share more than just tweets on Twitter, such as videos and images. The platform has been home to all kinds of content, from breaking on-the-ground footage from protests and live events to cute videos of pets. Currently, you can’t download Twitter videos within the app. Maybe that will be a new feature Elon Musk will implement. In the meantime, here are a few workarounds to save videos from Twitter and share them with those who don’t have an account.

To download Twitter videos to your phone, you can use a third-party app, such as Download Twitter Videos for Android or Shortcuts for iPhone. To download Twitter videos as an mp4 file to your computer, visit a trusted website such as SaveTweetVid.

How to save Twitter videos on your computer
Many websites proclaim to download Twitter videos, but here is a couple that we’ve tested that work: SaveTweetVid and TwitterVideoDownloader. Both sites work the same way with a simple process. All you have to do is copy the link to the tweet containing the video you want to save, paste it into the text field on either site then click Download.
SaveTweetVid gives you a few different quality options (270p, 360p and 720p). You can also scan the QR code at the bottom of the page to quickly download the file to your phone or tablet.
TwitterVideoDownloader will give you slightly different quality options (320p, 540p, and 720p). Click on the Download button next to the video quality you want to save to your computer.

Because you can’t download videos from Twitter natively, any apps you find will contain ads in exchange for the exclusive feature. Some of these apps offer paid options to remove the ads, but we wouldn’t recommend shelling out. Some users have reported still seeing ads even after payment.
The aptly named Download Twitter Videos is one option that has over 10M downloads and a high rating out of 357K reviews. Once downloaded, whenever you tap the Share button on a tweet, you will see the option to Share Tweet via and can then select Download Twitter Video to begin downloading the video in the background while you continue to browse Twitter.

You can then find your downloaded videos in the app or your Gallery if you give the app access permission.
How to save Twitter videos on your iPhone or iPad
Apple’s Shortcuts app is the best option for downloading videos from Twitter on iOS. Once installed, make sure to enable Allow Untrusted Shortcuts to be able to install user-created Shortcuts, such as Twitter videos. After that, you can save videos from Twitter to your Photos app with a few taps.
Find a tweet with the video you want to save and tap Share, then look for Twitter Video Downloader V3.1 in the list of options. Shortcuts will launch and ask what quality of video you want to save. That’s all there is to it.

If the user has made their account or tweets private, you won’t be able to download the video via any third-party options.
Maximum video length you can upload to Twitter is 2 minutes and 20 seconds. As for tweets, Twitter is considering extending the length to 10,000 characters.
